Why, yes! I painted my living room orange. Doesn't everyone who's anyone do that? Well, except for Deadly Deleon, who favors turquoise. Nothing rhymes with turquoise either, btw.
Actually, the shade is "Mandarin." I feel like I'm inside a pumpkin. A very, happy pumpkin that smells like 2 kids, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 guinea pigs and lots and lots of Febreeze.
Orange has become my signature color over the past two years. My iPod is orange...my iPod skin is orange...I have an orange cover for my phone and an orange skin for my Kindle. I have orange purses, shoes, scarves, pens and scissors (which, by the way, you should never run with).
I wonder what my favorite color says about me? Maybe my love for the color orange implies that I'm warm, a vegetable who never runs the risk of getting scurvy.
Margaret's favorite color is black. Black isn't really a color, now is it? It's just the complete absence of light. So how can it be her favorite? I think she is disqualified.
What if your favorite color was chartreuse? Or puce? Or worse, taupe? That would truly be tragic.
My living room used to be taupe. It was very dull. I like the orange. What do you think?

LOVE it!
I don't have any orange walls, but a dark rich gold in our dining room. And I accessorize with orange, burgundy and green accents.
Gillian! That sounds GORGEOUS! You must be very talented. I love working with color!
I think you're married to Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater, that's what I think...
It's still a better color than what my parents painted the living room one year (an antique yellow-gold that was not flattering any of our sallow skin) and my brother painted his bedroom--probably in the 70s--a seafoam green, so when I inherited the room years later, I got to spend my growing up years feeling mildly sick, as if I were in a hospital ward.
Orange is a bold, happy color--and I think both of those adjectives fit you greatly. Now if the color could just say: "WITTY", I think it would have you completely.
I am boring of the boring. I have white walls (apartment) and I'm not big on walls of color. If I did though, I have a feeling the walls would be the sort of reds you'd find in a bordello. What that says about me is probably completely accurate.
The apartment came with a green wall in the living room though...a sort of dark sage like color, which I like and goes well with the brown couch and furniture. And it's just one wall, so I don't feel like I'm surrounded by tumbleweed or jungle...it's nice. However, when I moved in, the manager had to paint the bathroom and thought he'd use the green color--without asking me first if that would be okay--and seemed surprised when I said I'd prefer not to look at myself every morning in the bathroom mirror under the glow of GREEN because I couldn't imagine it would be flattering ever, but most especially not at 6:30 am.
I think orange is a fabulous color and anything is better than beige or white!
I love your orange walls! I like yellow but none of my walls are yellow because I haven't found the exact shade I could live with up on the walls. I hope liking yellow doesn't mean I'm a coward =:-O
I love your orange walls. my master bath was that color for 15 years (though it is now a pale yellow).
You realize Cherry is not going to insist you give her your house.
At some point of my childhood, my grandmother painted her dining room a salmon color. Sort of a sick pink. Very bad. I'd forgotten until I found some old pics not long ago.
I'm with the white wall brigade. It's an apartment and I could paint the walls, but I'd have to paint them back before I move out and who wants to bother with that? Not me, that's who.
My fav color is mauve and for many years, everything in my house was some shade of burgundy or mauve. I'm trying to get away from that and right now I'm liking smokey blue shades.
I love it!!!!!!!
I do have to wonder as I'm looking at sickly white walls and staring at GRAY outside if the orange walls help have a "Sunshine Effect", you know like the fake sunlamps. Does it keep the seasonal blues away?
If so, I'd paint my walls orange in an instant and forget that I look bad in orange.
I like it!
I'm not an orange person, but I did paint one wall in my house "copper penny" (close enough to orange) several years ago. I has darkened with age, and I love it.
Good for you!!!!
I wouldn't have thought it could work if I hadn't seen the pictures. But it looks... well, yummy! Like a big bowl of orange sherbet. Hmm. Now I'm hungry....
It's bright and cheery! Though the "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater" comment had me cracking up. *G* My LR is a safe sand color. I like it because I chose a burgundy couch and we have white trim. Our bedroom is a blue with tinge of grey and it's driving me crazy after 3 years. I'm starting to feel like I live in a cave. Even with the white duvet on our bed. We recently put up a chair rail in the kitchen and then picked a dark color for the bottom half, leaving the top the same sand as the LR. (Works well with pecan table and black chairs.) FYI, colonial beige is SO not beige, more of a green/grey. It's scary to me, but works well. *G*
You like it! You really, really like it! I love hearing how people decorate! Hellion, you'd love my bedroom...it is bordello red. Margaret's room is hot pink and Jack's is Jedi Blue.
Of course, we can never move. Who would buy it?
I LOVE it! Then again, I'm very much an orange person too with the orange ipod, orange winter coat (is there a happier color to wear in winter?), etc.
My living room is bright blue because that was just the right color for the room. I don't know why, but rooms do seem to have color personalities.
I'm finally getting ready to paint the bedroom a combination orange/turquoise/beige. I'm thinking sunset on the beach as inspiration. And once that's done, it will eliminate the final white walls in the house. :)
