Thrill Me, Scare Me, Make Me Scream

I love a good horror movie. Granted, I don't love them very often, because most of them aren't really good, but I can't help trying a new one. Now that I have Netflix (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Netflix), I have all those instant play movies and there's a ton of horror. I play them all the time hoping that this one will be the one that does it.

Hasn't happened yet.

And this is what I think the problem is - I want to be scared, but I'm not. And I mean never. My mom will be the first to tell you that even as a child, the thing she worried about most is that I seemed to have no fear. I started watching horror movies in elementary school, and haven't had a sleepless night my entire life. BTW, my mom STILL hasn't forgiven me for getting her to watch CHILDREN OF THE CORN.

In fact, the more I think about it, the only time I get scared is when I do my taxes. So I guess, short of April every year, I'll be on the constant quest for the story or movie that gives me a sleepless night - that makes me scream.

What about you? Do movies scare you? If so, what kind?

I don't do horror movies. They creep me out too much. And yet I think nothing of watching all the ghost hunting shows on TV. Go figure.

I love horror movies but not too many get to me. Reading them bothers me a lot more. (Exorcist and a lot of Stephen Kings but not all). I actually love watching the really corny late nite horror movies - to me they are comedies.

Tori - yes, there is much duplicity in your viewing habits. lol

catslady - I think books (some) are creepier, too, but I still have been totally scared by one. (sigh)

Maybe someday.

I'm a huge horror movie fan. And yes, I watch them all in hopes that each one will be a good one. I've run into some real stinkers.

I haven't seen any real scary ones lately except maybe Eden Lake, but that was more disturbing than anything else.

Some fun ones, though: The Substitute (the Scandinavian movie, not the Tom Berenger) and Cold Prey. I also really liked The Children, which was a bit creepy.

Becky - I'm making notes - thanks for the tips!

When I was a kid, I saw "Hill House," which scared the bejeebies out of me. Since then, I've watched lots of horror movies, trying to find another that would give me that same thrill. Nothing, darn it. Someday, maybe?
