Congrats and thank you guys for playing. Oh, make sure you come back Tuesday for my contest and links to two other places I'm guest blogging and giving away prizes. CC

CONTEST!!!!!

Today Toni McGee Causey is giving away a $25 gift certificate to either Barnes & Noble or Amazon (your choice) and a couple of south Louisiana goodies (some Community coffee gift bags) to one of the commenters who tell us what fun thing they're going to do this summer?

Have you ever met someone and instantly liked them? That's what happened when I met Toni McGee Causey. She's so easy to like and easy to talk to. (Hey . . . I think she's cajun, that probably explains it.) And lucky for you guys, I've been chatting with her this week and she just mentioned that she would love to do a contest over at KF. So to celebrate her releases... the first book in the series, CHARMED AND DANGEROUS now available in mass market--June 2nd! Followed by book 2, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN at the end of June and book 3, WHEN A MAN LOVES HIS WEAPON in August.

This is some fabulous summer reading, so make sure you run out and snatch these great beach reads. I'll be in line myself. Below is the book blurb.

CC

Bobbie Faye is looking forward to the Lake Charles Contraband Days Festival with balloons, booze and babies in pirate costumes. Instead, her trailer's flooded, her no-good brother's been kidnapped, and the criminals are demanding her mom's tiara as ransom. Soon Bobbie Faye is committing (unintentional) bank robbery and (fully intentional) carjacking to retrieve her family heirloom. Along comes the hard-muscled, impossibly sexy Trevor, the guy whose truck she just took hostage. Luckily, Bobbie Faye knows how to outsmart angry bears, drive a speedboat, and handle a gun. As for handling Trevor? No gun-shyness there. Now, if only that pesky state police detective, who also happens to be a pissed-off ex-boyfriend, would stay out of her way...

I've already ranted to Toni (while trying not to elevate myself to stalker-fan status ;) )-- I LOVE Bobbie Faye! I carry her first book around with me (I drive from building to building for school work) as a talisman against grumpy people. It is impossible to be unhappy while reading about a character this funny.

We are notching summer way back this year, instead of cramming in every "educational" summer camp we can find, we are in search of the perfect bubble, the perfect peach, and the perfect line-up of fireworks for the neighborhood 4th of July. My summers growing up consisted of gardening, helping my folks with the haying and the occasional trip in town to Dairy Queen (bliss!). I'm ready for that again.

Hello Toni,

Loved the blurb. Congrats on the new release!!!

The only thing we have planned for this summer is working on the house. We might do a few things locally but the economy has us a little stuck right now. No big, big plans as of lately for the summer. Have a great day.

I adore the Bobbie Faye books. They never fail to make me laugh like a loon (do loons laugh?).

My plans for the summer consist of staying cool and avoid as many mosquitoes as possible. *g*

Hi, Toni,

Congrats on the back-to-back releases of the Bobbie Faye books. You know how much I love this series. Here's to hoping they sell like gangbusters!

Congrats on your up and coming new releases.

We don't have any fun things planed this summer. Right now my kitchen is tore apart because we had a water leak from the ice maker and were having to replace the kitchen floor and were in a really big mess. If I could just get the floor back down and my kitchen back together if would sound like a fun thing anyway. I think it will take a month to get my house clean again. That doesn't sound like much fun, but it would make me happy! We are doing the work ourself so it takes awhile.

Hi Christie! Hi Toni!
Awesome contest! I really want to read Toni's books and I love the new covers! Great contest and I am sure the winner would love to buy your books with that giftcard, I know I would! :)

Gillian, you crack me up -- I LOVE that you carry around Bobbie Faye as a talisman. ;) You rock.

Oh, I so miss Dairy Queen. There's not one close to where I live anymore. But I am so going to be at the fireworks event this year. Every year I mean to go and every year something happens, but I am going, dang it, this year!

Toni McGee Causey said...

Housemouse -- thank you! And yep, the economy is a killer, isn't it? We're doing the same sort of thing--working on the house, scaling back some of the plans. (I am hoping for more sleep, but that may be a crazy thought.)

Toni McGee Causey said...

Thanks, Christie! What a sweet intro--much appreciated.

Faye--thanks -- and I owe you email. (brain took a vacation this week!)

Toni McGee Causey said...

Tori -- thank you! I'm so glad you love Bobbie Faye. And I'm cracking up (re: the mosquitoes). For some reason, I have a lower body temp than my husband and my kids, so whenever we're outside, they're not so much interested in me. (I used to be a little furnace as a kid, though, and was the mosquito magnet.)

Toni McGee Causey said...

Oh, Virginia. I do not envy you the torn up kitchen. That happened to us when we bought our first house... we were trying to do a "small" remodel of the kitchen, but discovered rotten sub-floor and problems with the plumbing that necessitated moving cabinets and had a kitchen sink--one of those big old cast iron things--that looked like the Titanic about to hit the floor. It turned into the never-ending project.

Every once-in-a-while, we look at our current kitchen and think about trying to fix it up a little--it's very dated--and then we both shudder and wait 'til the feeling passes. Not that you have any choice with the leak happening! Here's hoping you get your wish before too long. ;)

Toni McGee Causey said...

Rachael, heh--thank you. You're cracking me up.

Donnas - thank you! So glad you love the books. And like you, I'm mostly working this summer. Dang it.

Toni McGee Causey said...

Terri, thank you! Wow, that is incredibly sweet of you.

I was joking around with family the other day that they all had to buy multiple copies and I started explaining that one could be a flyswatter, one could wedge up the table in the living room, one could prop up the mail... there are just multiple uses! ;)

Toni McGee Causey said...

Terri W -- aaaaahhhh, what a perfect description of summer! Here's hoping we all get to do that. ;)

Jan Crow (jancr57@yahoo.com) said...

Usually my vacations are spent taking care of either business or parents. Not this year. I will be taken in the sights of Houston. I plan to spend a day at the Funeral Museum checking out which coffins I might choose for my own funeral -- a rooster or King Tut's Sarcophagus. Then I plan on taking in the Art Car musuem. Hmmm, how about a jewel encrusted derby racer or a giant cockroacar. LOL.

Seriously, every one have a great vacation no matter what you are going to do!

Hugs all!

Jan

Hey Toni,

It sounds like you've created a great character with Bobbie Faye.

Welcome to K. F. Toni.

Sorry I'm late, just got back from participating in a walk for Celiac Disease in Detroit.

We're actually going to take a real vacation this summer. It's been years and years since we took a real vacation. (i.e. unrealted to work or school.) All 9 (7 adults and 2 kids) of us are taking a whole week off. Now we just need to decide what/where we're going to go.

Back to Back to Back releases of more Bobbi Faye is awesome. Looks like I have some great summer reading ahead of me. thanks !! .... Mo H

Oh, I love Bobbie Faye! Our plans for this summer are pretty light, no big vacations. But, as of next week I'll be Free, FREE, FREEEEEEE! (I homeschool, we test this week and then off for the summer.) *G*

Toni McGee Causey said...

Jan, I had never even heard of the Funeral Museum! How very unusual--and I'll bet, interesting. (Though it does kinda seem weird to wish someone to "have fun" at a funeral museum. ;) )

Sandy, thank you -- she is a lot of fun to write.

Crystal--fishing, yay! I love to fish. It's been too long since I've gone.

Amy--that sounds like the perfect summer to me--lots of reading.

Ref... thank you. And wow, I am envying you the real vacation this year. I'm going to take one of those one of these days. (Although at first, I read that as 7 kids and 2 adults and I thought "wow, I'd be an incoherent blob at the end of that one." ;)

Mo--thanks! Bobbie Faye is crazy and fun and I really hope you enjoy her as much as I have enjoyed the writing.

Brandy, you rock. Thank you--and here's to homeschool being over and you getting to relax!

Ok, who renamed my cheese?I found both of the first two Bobbie Faye books to be hysterically funny.

I'm glad they're going to be available in mass market paperback and can't wait for the third book.

So obviously part of the fun I plan for the summer is re-reading the first two books and then the third. After buying all three of course.

Other than that I'm going to try to swing a whale watch this year. I didn't go last year after not missing for many years. I'll see if I can convince a niece or nephew to go with me.

I'm kinda bummed at the title changes though. It was the super long titles that attracted my attention in the first place. I guess they didn't have room on the smaller covers.

Just out of unbearable curiosity, what super long title would you have used for the third book?

We are staying home this summer. We have a garden to tend and two family reunions to attend.

I'm taking a summer statistics course and working at a crappy hospital. This summer is going to suck. Really.

I plan on having a yard sale, sitting on the swing in the Gazebo and listening to the water fall as I relax.
I'll be working a fair amount being I've been off from work sick for 6 weeks, two of them from surgery.

Congratulations on your upcoming releases!

Sadly, my grandfather passed away, so I will be spending my vacation time traveling south and going through his house and things. I'm trying to stay upbeat and hope that I can find some memories to keep there. I also plan on finding some time for reading and a few days to go to the beach this summer.

YEAH!! More Bobbie Faye!!

We are doing absolutely nothing this summer in an effort to save up for the most perfect Christmas vacation EVAH! That's right - I'm shipping the husband and kid to the in-laws for TWO WHOLE FREAKIN' MONTHS!

Just me and the dogs and a big honkin' pile of books. Gotta love it!

Caffey said...

Great to meet you Toni!!! I'm so thrilled to hear about this series!! I don't know how I missed this series!

My hubby is taking time off this summer, finally! We do have plans of around the house, but too a few day trips. We love to go to them. Sometimes are so cost saving but too so fun. One will be a interpreted (sign language) tour which will be so cool! Cuz I'll understand what they talking about at the museum! We watching for others that coming too. But mostly a few day trips, and having our children with us for like weekend cookouts. Those are always fun! And of course alot of reading!!

RachaelfromNJ said...

OOPS! I never said what I am doing this summer! Last summer my fiance and I went to Florida and stayed at a beautiful resort. I'm hoping to go somewhere for at least a week again. Not sure yet where but I see plenty of flea markets trips in our future!

Toni McGee Causey said...

Bookmobiler--thank you! What a great compliment.

And I know what you mean about the titles. I totally understand the need to re-name them, but I swear, I keep forgetting to call them by their new names. I've gotta get better at that. ;)

Estella, I love fresh garden pickings... I'm just horrible at growing things. My parents had a garden when I was a kid and they sort of forbade me to go out there 'til things had ripened. ;) Hope your reunions are fun!

Wendy, I hate to say it, but a summer of statistics would make my head explode. Heck, a day of it would be pretty rough. I hope there is some fun time in there for you, somewhere.

Robyn, I hope you've healed well! And that gazebo relaxing sounds perfect. (We had a yard sale back in Feb... well, my kids did. They did well, and I was glad to get rid of a bunch of stuff just taking up room, but wow, that was a lot of work.)

Kammie, thank you (re: the releases), but I am very sorry for your loss. I hope you can find some things of his that you can hold onto to remember him by. That's such a difficult thing you're doing, but it's nice to know that you're honoring him by taking the time and the care to look after his things.

Suzan, thank you! And wow, two whole months of nothing but me and books? HEAVEN.;) I hope you have a wonderful time (when it gets here).

Toni McGee Causey said...

Caffey, great to meet you, too! And I think the interpreted tours sound very cool. (I am all for day trips--I love going for excursions, but without the hassle of packing.)

Rachael, oooooh, resort! Sounds great, and hope you have fun with the fleat markets. ;)

Hi Toni,

I'm going to the WisRWA conference this weekend, and I'll be hanging around with Karin Tabke, who thinks you're wonderful. :)

Edie! Give Karin a big old hug for me. I think she's absolutely wonderful, too. ;) Great to see you here.

Every summer, we take at least one weekend to travel to the other side of the state to visit the ocean. I love the waves and walking in the sand. This summer will be no different. As soon as it's nice and toasty warm on the coast, we'll be on our way!

Wendy said...

Thanks, Toni! I'll try to have some fun.

Hey Christie & Toni,

LOVE the new covers Toni!!

As for my summer plans, I don't have any! And that to me sounds like heaven. No obligations, except to enjoy each and every day. Read as much as I can fit in, and probably have some homemade ice cream.

That's what I call a summer vacation.
