Okay, I promised contests for the next few weeks to celebrate the release of Divorced, Desperate and Deceived, so here’s something a little different. Just for fun let’s answer some questions that might bring about some interesting/ telling and funny insights about ourselves. I’ll even go first. One lucky commenter will win a ten dollar gift card to Barnes & Noble. So make sure you post.

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

CC’s Answer: A napkin-wrapped, shriveled-up pickle. (My grandma was the type who couldn’t leave anything at a restaurant, so she dropped it in my purse for safe keeping. Oh, it was safe. I found it about a month later.)

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?

CC’s Answer: It’s a toss up. It was either let my mother highlight it or my friend cut it when we were four. (Both looked equally bad, although one was green and one left me with no bangs.)

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man?

A: His eyes
B: His smile
C: His butt
D: Other (Tell me, tell me, tell me!)

CC’s Answer: His smile, shortly followed by his shoulders. I’m a shoulder girl. Can’t you tell that all my heroes have a nice set of shoulders to lean on?

4) If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why?

A: Your Panties
B: Your shoes
C: Your phone
D: Your credit card

CC’s Answer: My phone. It’s the only thing I could borrow from a stranger if I needed it. (My first inclination was to say my panties. Seriously, who would know? But then, if it’s one of those bad-luck days, I’d get into an accident, like my mama always said I would if wore holey underwear. Notice bra was not one of the choices, because I would never, even consider going outside without my girls being supported.)

5) What do you think is the most important accessory for an outfit?

CC’s Answer: A feel-good attitude

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter?

CC’s Answer: You did exactly what you were supposed to do. By the way, we have a new typo-free computer waiting for you and your grandma is waiting for you with another pickle. (I always miss her at the holidays!)

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments?

CC’s Answer: The front seat of a car and a flashlight. (Yes, it’s probably what you think it is but, hey, I was married!)

8) What’s sexier to you:

a. A man who brings you flowers
b. A man who helps you with the dishes
c. A man who writes poetry
d. A man with an earring

CC’s Answer: A man who helps me with the dishes. (Hey, how many of you have read Weddings Can be Murder?)

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

CC’s Answer: A beach house somewhere that the days are warm but not hot, and the nights are chilly but not cold.

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most?

Answer: A comfortable pair of jeans, and a bright-colored blouse, and a blazer. If I’m at a conference I’ll be wearing a hat.

Okay, make sure you leave a comment to be entered in the contest. And answer a few of the questions. Let’s have some fun getting to know each other a little bit better.

Oh, and December 3rd I'll be over at http://novelthoughts.wordpress.com/. This post, Ten Things a Christie Craig Character Would Never Say, is must read guys. Plus I'm giving away book.

I already won your book(Thanks for the extras by the way:) and now that Nanowrimo is over, I may find time to read for myself. LOL

I love your list and will have to think about a couple of the answers. Your humor is making me itch to read your book.

Good luck everyone :)

Hi Christie!! It's Tina in Phoenix.
Ok, Strangest residence in my purse would probably be my pet python. I don't have him anymore but when he was a baby I would put him in my purse to sneak him in places.
Worst hair was a poodle perm. What a dork I was!!
I would leave my credit card at home.(Of course I would grab some cash before I left!)
I would like very much if the gate keeper told me: We are sending you to your idea of Heaven. Everything you dreamed it would be is exactly what it is...have a nice death!
And I have to ask, What is so embarrasing about losing your keys in the front seat of a car and using a flashlight to find them? I'm confused!
Just kidding!! I get it! And nothing like that ever happened to me! Especially not with a beer bottle!!
I don't understand this choose an identity stuff below so I am just going to choose anonymous. You know who I am!

Anonymous said...

As a teen, I wanted to bleach my hair. I'm already blonde but I wanted to be platinum. Hey - it was the 80s. Anyway, how do you bleach your hair? With bleach,of course. Good ole Clorox bleach. It took YEARS for that part of my hair to grow back!!!

Jenn!

Christie Craig said...

Hi Tina!!!

Of course, I know who you are. Tina is my book pimp. And I love her for it soooo much!!!

A snake? Yikes.

How did you know I'd lost my keys? LOL. And that was a bottle of wine, not beer.

Thanks so much for stopping in girl.

CC

Christie Craig said...

Oh, Jenn.

That is so like a teen. I used to lay out in the sun with lemon and mayonaise in my hair to help lighten it. Thank God, I never went for the bleach. LOL.

Thanks for popping in.

1) Strangest thing in purse: probably an apple. If you see what I typically eat, having a wholesome fruit within reach would seem weird.
2) Worst thing done to hair: early college, I let a friend’s mom (who was a supposed stylist) cut my hair. She cut a “weight line” in my hair, so it looked like I had the world’s longest mullet. It was awful. Took forever go grow back out. I flinch whenever stylists use the word “weight line” while holding a pair of scissors near my hair.
3) Men: their eyes first (are they predator or prey? Do they have a sense of humor?), then smile, then shoulders (and how they stand). Sucker for a man who’s got the alpha look in his stance.
4) Unnecessary items: I can do without any of those items actually and have left my house without all items, though not all at once. Like you, who would know if I wasn’t wearing underwear; I run around barefoot quite a bit unless there is snow on the ground; I have been known to forget my phone; and I don’t use my credit card (now my debit card is another matter).
5) Best outfit accessory: kickass shoes. (Okay, the attitude helps…but my attitude is enhanced by kickass shoes. It’s a chicken and egg thing.)
6) Heaven: “What did we tell you about driving fast? Not in a hurry now, are you? Oh, and He says He loved the book. Very funny.”
7) Embarrassed: When I told my boss (a man) that the applicant had indeed been circumcised (instead of certified). I didn’t know my boss very long at the time—and had trouble explaining how I knew the applicant was circumcised. (Not that I knew. Never mind.)
8) Sexier: Hands down, the dishes.
9) A week: HOGWART’S. It’s opening in Orlando next Spring, you know.
10) Outfit: levis, flip-flops, and a pirate t-shirt. (I could be Jimmy Buffet’s kid sister, I could.)

Kimberly Ivey said...

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

An avocado. Unfortunately, when my hand found it a month later it was cold, rotted to mush and black. Kinda looked like what happens when you change a baby's dirty diaper and your finger slips. Took me a long time before I wanted avocados again.

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair? I bleached my dark hair and it turned copper red. Never again.

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man? His face, hair and shirt. Good grooming trumps everything else. If he's clean, smells okay, and doesn't look like his clothes came out of the bottom of the dirty laundry hamper he's an okay guy.

4) If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why?

A: Your Panties
B: Your shoes
C: Your phone
D: Your credit card

Definitely leave the drawers behind. I can't walk well without shoes--I'm tender footed. I can't leave home without at least some form of payment since I don't carry cash. And I gotta have a cell phone. I never want to be at the mercy of a stranger's ahem...unkindness. So the undies would have to go. Just have to make sure I don't rip the seat of my pants.

5) What do you think is the most important accessory for an outfit? Any garment that hides the muffin top and refrigerator butt is a must.

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter? Oh, shit! Thunder Horse Woman has arrived. Run everyone. Run for your lives! >very big evil grin<

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments? Nope. Nothing I can be blackmailed with later...although I did tinkle in my pants in public once or twice. But hey, I was only 8 once of those times.

8) What’s sexier to you:

a. A man who brings you flowers
b. A man who helps you with the dishes
c. A man who writes poetry
d. A man with an earring

Give me a man who does dishes ANY DAY. I can buy my own flowers, write my own poetry, and as far as the earrings go...I've spent enough time down in the trenches with a bucket of mop water and Mr. Clean to last me a lifetime. Sorry, no earrings.

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be? Concan Texas next to the Frio River.

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most? I live in jeans, T-shirts and flip flops year around. Oh, and throw in a cool, colorful bandanna for the head. Hey, I gotta be me.

Great answers, CC. I loved these questions!

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

I can't even answer that one. I've found anything from foreign paper money to a used tissue with chewed up graham cracker my toddler thought I wanted for later.

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?

The spike cut I got in 8th grade.

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man?

A: His eyes
B: His smile
C: His butt
D: Other (Tell me, tell me, tell me!)

His hands. YUM. Then his sense of humor. The funny bone is the fasted way into my knickers.

4) If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why?

A: Your Panties
B: Your shoes
C: Your phone
D: Your credit card

Panties of course. I could order more with my credit card on my phone and walk to pick them up in my shoes. Or, I could just be naughty. :)

5) What do you think is the most important accessory for an outfit?

CC’s Answer: A feel-good attitude

I love CC's answer here! Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear.

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter?

I don't even care. I'll just be happy that I made it to the cooler clime. LOL.

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments?

Two tongues and a half a box of Tart N'Tinys do NOT fit in one mouth.

It hurts like the devil when they fly out of your nose.

8) What’s sexier to you:

a. A man who brings you flowers
b. A man who helps you with the dishes
c. A man who writes poetry
d. A man with an earring

It used to be a toss up between the poetry and and earring. Since I've been haus frauing, definitely the dishes.

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Venice.

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most?

It really depends on my mood. But for the most part, go with something Victorian/Goth. A corset, lots of lace, lots of cleavage, and those adorable pointy granny boots with gel insoles.

Great questions & answers, Christie! Just what I need to take my mind off my poor sick baby (she's got a nasty stomach virus which erupted at 3:30 this morning *g*).

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

I'm kind of anal about cleaning out my purse because as a kid I use to find the grossest things in my mom's purse. Petrified gum & candy mostly, old sugar packets, and her purse always smelled like spilled perfume...only it didn't smell good. Oh, and crumpled, used tissues. Blech!

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?

When I was around 16, I allowed a friend to color it blonde, which turned it orange, then she gave me a home perm...then another. By the time my mom took me to a beauty shop, they told her, "You got her here just in time." LOL

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man?

Depends. It's always something different. Eyes, hair, build, attitude, feet. LOL

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter?

"Hey, I read There's Only Been You and really enjoyed it!" LOL

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments?

I can be a clutz. Years ago we were vacationing in Tennessee, and the laundry facility was a building made of all glass. I thought I knew where the door was, but I was wrong. I busted my lip when I tried to walk through a window.

8) What’s sexier to you:

a. A man who brings you flowers
b. A man who helps you with the dishes
c. A man who writes poetry
d. A man with an earring

Since my husband gets pretty ugly on those few occasions he has to do dishes, I'll say flowers. I love red roses and he knows it. ;-)

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Ever since I wrote Golden Opportunity I've been dreaming about seeing Golden, Colorado in person. One day I will. :-)

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most?

A T-shirt with a funny saying (I have a closet full of T-shirts), stretch denim pants, and white tennis shoes. That's me in a nutshell.

LuAnn said...

I love your answers to these questions! Now, I'll answer just a few:
*What’s the first thing you notice about a man? Definitely his eyes! I truly believe the eyes are the door to a person's soul and you can learn a lot through observing them.
*If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why? Probably my credit card. I hate shopping so I wouldn't really miss it (as long as I had enough gas in my car!).
*What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter? This is a fun question because I'll probably never meet the Gate Keeper. I had a boss once who told me God was going to send me to hell because I was probably the one person who could drive Satan crazy enough to change his ways. I would get to be an ambassador of sorts! How fun is that!
*What’s sexier to you: A man who helps with the dishes, of course! I think, for most women, that's pretty self-explanatory. My husband does the dishes almost every night, but I can't let on that he's being sexy as he might get the wrong idea! (Oh, and he also brings flowers every now and then, too.)
*If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be? San Diego, California! That's my favorite place in the entire U.S. I especially love Old Town with its historic feel. And who can't love a place that has Sea World?
*What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most? My sweats and a tank top. That's what I'm typically wearing because I like being comfortable more than anything else in the world.
Well, that's it. I didn't answer all the questions because I was so caught up in the ones I did answer that I couldn't think up responses for the others!

Susan Helene Gottfried said...

Hey, Christie. No need to enter me, even though a B&N is nearby. I'm dropping in to ask what's wrong with green hair (other than most of it washed out and I was left with this one little spot that gleamed in the sun like pond scum)???

:D

I've posted this at Win a Book for you, of course, doll.

2. I don't do much to my hair, but I'm a red head and once wanted to go blonde-so I bought a box of store color but on top of my red, it turned darker instead of lighter. Not good with my pale skin. It was the wash out kind, so I washed my hair more than a few times that day.

3. I notice a man's hair, if I like the cut, ect. Then probably eyes and upper body build. If he smiles, then that, too.

4. I'd leave my phone or cc--don't use either much.

5. Important accessory: earrings.

8. A man who brings flowers (or a new TV) and then washes dishes would be REALLY sexy to me.

9. A week in Colorado in the summer sounds great! Or Hawaii, since I've never been and I'd get to see my good friend Dulcie.

10. Comfy jeans and a soft sweater--though turtlenecks make me claustrophobic.

Alyce said...

These are really fun questions!

1. I used to carry a spare hot wheels car or Thomas train in my purse for when my boys were toddlers, in case we got stuck somewhere and they were bored.

2. I had really long hair and cut off half of it (just one half of my head) when I was six - and thought my parents wouldn't notice as long as I hid the hair in the trash can.

3. B - His smile (and teeth)

4. Phone - I forget it all the time anyway.

7. Me in the middle of a greased bowling lane after slipping and flying down it on my rear.

8. Definitely the man who does the dishes.

Refhater said...

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

- I just have the normal junk in my purse. But, I have 3 times the ammount of it. I have a little OCD and feel "off" if I don't have at least 2 of everything.

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?

- Hours after getting my hair permed, I went to a pool party, forgot what I was doing and got into the water. My hair turned green. I had to cut the majority of my hair off in order to get rid of the green.

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man?

- D: Other - His hands.

4) If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why?

- A toss up between my shoes and my credit card. Because I really don't like wearing shoes unless I have to and I'm trying to cut back on spending so leaving the credit card would help.

5) What do you think is the most important accessory for an outfit?

- A watch. Always have to have a watch.

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter?

- We've been waiting for you.

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments?

- I once was pooped on by a seagull and now have a phobia about them.

8) What’s sexier to you:

- b. A man who helps you with the dishes (without being asked.)

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

- Rose Lake in Leroy, MI. My great grandma lived there most of her life and I have great memories growing up there and spending time with her.

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most?

- Jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt with comfortable socks.

Hi Christie,
I would probably leave my credit card home so I won't be tempted to go on a spending spree. I would love to spend a week in Tahiti. A watch is an important accessory. It helps me manage my time.

Hi Christie,
1. I don't carry a very large purse, but my husband always has me putting his stuff in it. Like his really big pocket knife
2. Can't say I've done anything majorly bad to my hair.
3. I love a man's great smile. It's what sold me on my hubby.
4. I would leave my credit card.
7. Most embassing moment had to be the time we had come back from my in-laws place on the lake and stopped at a Meijer's for Milk. We had a large van at the time with running boards. It had rained so my husband stop just outside the door to let me out. As I was getting out, I tripped and fell in a puddle. Came up soaking wet, but I was going just walk in the door unitl hubby made me get back in the van. Can't imagine what the guy in the car behind us thought.
8. I love a man who helps with the dishes.
9. Anywhere in the Bahammas
10. Jeans and a pretty sweather or shirt. Course if I am at a horse show, got to have a Kick ass hat on.

Finished your latest book over the weekend. LOVED It!!!

Fun!

1) What’s the strangest thing you ever had take up residence in your purse?

I'm pretty pickie about this, so I'm going to have to say nothing out of the ordinary.

2) What’s the worst thing you ever did to your hair?

highlighting gone wrong with my aunt and cousin. I was spotted, cousin sat through it all for nothing and my aunt's hair had a bad reaction with her color and smoked puffed from the top like a kicked mushroom.

3) What’s the first thing you notice about a man?

A: His eyes
B: His smile
C: His butt
D: Other (Tell me, tell me, tell me!)

Shoulders. shoulders, shoulders, shoulders. A girl has to have something to hold on to, right? (and yes, I do mean during THAT *g*)

4) If you had to leave one of these items at home, which would it be? Why?

A: Your Panties
B: Your shoes
C: Your phone
D: Your credit card

You know, I'm gonna have to go with panties. the best undies in the world will do me no good in an accident, but my phone lists my entire family for emergency folks.

5) What do you think is the most important accessory for an outfit?

good hair-day. the best outfit will be ruined by bad hair.

6) What would you like the Gate Keeper in heaven to say to you as you enter?

guess what, you pass through these gates and all that holiday/baby weight over the years just falls right off.

7) Tell me two things about one of your most embarrassing moments?

trash can and trash.

8) What’s sexier to you:

Dishes. Mine helped me just last week after cut my palm on a knife.

9) If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

right now, I'd love a cabin in the snow. somewhere deserted. big lovely smelling trees and a fire cracklin.

10) What outfit do you feel expresses your style the most?

jeans and heels, I think.

I think the worst thing I ever did to my hair was to dye it platinum blonde. My mom loved it -I think I looked like a lightbulb. My hair is very short and although I paid to have my eyebrows lightened, they remained resolutely black.
I went back the next day and had it dyed red. :)

Christie Craig said...

Great post Christie! I guess I would answer the questions about the way you did except I have never found a pickle in my purse! I have found a little of everything else in there though, my sister says I carry everything but the kitchen sink in my purse. I have found food before in it. A man smile and his eyes is what gets me. At one time my two boys stashed so much of their stuff in my purse, I thought they should take turns carrying it! Instead of giving them yet another reason to need therapy later in life, I downsized. Now only the bare essentials will even fit in my purse.
As for my hair, I have had both the Lil Orphan Annie and the Legend of Billie Jean hairdos. I should have really stayed away from movies as a youngster!
Love, love, love your books. Haven't gotten to read the new one yet, but it will happen very soon!

such good answers I enjoying.

I had the poodle perm also.

oddest thing in my purse was a packet of Grap Jelly who I then handed to my friend after we left the restaurant and her son stepped on her purse while we were shopping and the jam got all over everything.

At Heaven's gate I'd love to be told 'well done my good and faithful servant'.

A man who helps with the dishes is definitely sexier.
