TICK-TOCK by Diane Kelly

The turning back of our clocks this past weekend has me thinking about time.

It’s passing.

It’s limited.

It’s precious.

Time was a topic on NPR recently. Yep, I’m a nerd who listens to public radio, mostly just to fool myself into thinking I’m smarter than I really am. I got in on the middle of a discussion so I’m not sure who the guest was or what the main topic of discussion was supposed to be, but the guest noted that people generally try to extend their lives as long as possible and joked about the possible future convergence of technology and biology, when we could hypothetically download our consciousness to a computer and essentially live forever.

What would I do if I had more time? Instantly books come to mind. If I had more time, I’d definitely spend it reading. Not only do I have stacks of to-be-read books all over the house, but I’ve got a zillion gig backlog on my e-reader and phone. And there are great new books being released every day!

How did you spend your extra hour last weekend? What would you do if you had more time? Do you also suffer from “book backlog?” Got any time management tips to share?

Hi Diane - As a proud NPR member/supporter for many years, I say never apologize for that. Although it may not make you "smarter" (depending on your theory of intelligence), it certainly makes you better informed.
I spent my extra hour reading your latest - Sequined Clutch. Thanks for that!

I have been telling my husband that when I retire (hopefully in a year or two) my plan for the first year is to do nothing but read through my ever growing TBR pile. So many wonderful new books I want to read and some old favorites I want to reread. I slept through my extra hours to catch up on lost slepp from reading past my bedtime.

Thanks, Moojuice! I hope it was a fun hour for you! : )

Glad you caught up on the sleep, Mo! But you got behind for a good reason.

Unfortunately I was working. What made it worse was my vacation was starting when I got off work. So that extra hour didn't make me happy.
On the good side, wasn't really busy at work so did get some reading in

Loved Sequined Clutch, now waiting for release of next book. Already pre-ordered
