Happy #@%@$!! Birthday!

Okay, I realize that sounds harsh. I can laugh about it now. And I apologize for taking so long to post. Today is, in fact, my birthday (I'm seventy-two - or at least it feels like that) and I've spent the last two days fighting a losing battle with my old and new routers. I love/hate technology. I wouldn't want to live without it - which means I can't live without it - which means I want to kill something or someone if I have to live without it - which is what I've had to do (live without it that is - I didn't actually lay a deadly ambush for the Geek Squad) for the past 48 hours.

(Insert deep, cleansing breath here) Actually - it wasn't such a bad birthday. I started out registering the kids for school in an unairconditioned school gym. It was hot. Africa hot. Then we ran all over town looking for everything on a 2nd and 4th graders' lists. Why can't you just go to one place for this? Why do they need several thousand reams of wide ruled, 3-ring binder paper but don't need a 3-ring binder? And WHO came up with the brilliant idea of giving 9-year-olds Sharpies? I'd pretty much decided long ago that Sharpies required post-graduate work in order to use one in my house.

Anyway - I did manage to buy myself a really cool lemon quartz (have you ever heard of that?) ring, order a tungsten ring with little skulls engraved on them (did you know you can't scratch or even size tungsten?) and found an uber-cool Cole Haan bag. My husband will probably make sure he never leaves town again on my birthday.

At last the internet is working, the kids are in bed, I have a Grey Goose & tonic, and am settling down to do some work on my book #2 edits. Ahhhh. Bliss.

May you have many wonderful birthdays to come!

Happy Birthday, Leslie! Sounds like you had a busy one. And boy don't I know how you feel about school supplies. I think I'm finally done and goodness knows how much freaking money I've spent on them. And yes, in many different places. I have 3rd and 4th grade girls and school starts on Monday.

Oh, that Cole Haan bag sounds awesome. I'm a purse junkie too. LOL

Leslie,

Happy birthday!
Ugg. I hate and love technology, too. My critique partner is a computer guru, and she's had to talk me down from plenty of computer ledges.
Sounds as if you got some great gifts.

Hi!

Happy Birthday!! Know the feeling about school supplies! My granddaughter started 5th grade and had to have graph paper (among a long list of other stuff!!)I had no idea graph paper was so frigging hard to find and expensive!

I love the site - gonna visit often

Happy Birthday Leslie!

I had to do school shopping for my three kids and myself. It is a hassle, but at least its only once a year. *g*

Hugs, Danette

Happy Birthday. And I think they should have all that stuff in one place too.
Actually, they kind of do. It's called Walmart.

Belated happy birthday, Leslie!! It sounds as if you had an up and down day--but new jewelry and a Cole Haan purse go a long way towards making up for the little bumps throughout the day. And the absent hubby? That probably requires more than baubles and bags to compensate.

I have three seniors who do their own school supply shopping now. I still get the bill for the clothes, however. Sigh.

Happy Birthday, Leslie!
Um, I think we need pictures of that Haan bag. You can't dangle accessories at us like that without a detailed description. ;)

Happy Birthday!

Technology today is wonderful when all is going well but when something happens it is so bewildering but for some reason my family looks to me to fix it.

Happy Birthday Leslie!!I love the idea of a yellow quartz ring. I love jewelry.

Tomorrow is my big 50. I am so dreading it. But I am glad that I no longer have to worry about buying school stuff. I do have a younger bf who has a 7 yr. old. But at least I'm not having to go store to store.

Can't wait to read your book.

Happy Birthday Leslie!!! I usually have mine quiet too, just the typical day of doing the usual and we don't celebrate with cake here or anything just hugs, which are plenty!! I always tell them, "I'm going shopping for books for my birthday" :)
So you need to celebrate yourself too! The ring sounds lovely!
