X-Sunday

Okay, I'll admit it - I loved the X-Files. In fact, it's probably my favorite all-time series. And since I own all of the seasons on dvd, I decided on Sunday to start something I've been wanting to do for a long time - watch the entire show back to back in a huge X-Files marathon. Why, you ask? Well, one because it's cool! And two, I think I'd get the whole conspiracy plot better if I watched them all without a six month break in between seasons.

So I started on Sunday with season one and am loving it.

I also have to say that Mulder is so totally the Hero I am looking for - believes in strange things and likes to investigate them. Plus he's got nerves of steel and quite frankly, I've always thought David Duchovny is hot. So if anyone knows a DD sort of FBI investigator around Dallas, let me know.

So what about you guys - what's your favorite television show - old or new - and why?

  1. Hey, Jana,

Oooh, I loved the X-Files. Can't wait to see the new movie when it comes out, too!

Right now, my favorite series is probably Supernatural. Gotta love those Winchester boys.

  2. Jana,

    I loved the X-Files too - although i haven't watched in a while. I LOVED David Duchovny.

I'm a Lostie now. I don't go crazy, but I never miss an episode. And I love 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin is wicked hot.

  3. Living abroad, I'm always behind on TV but here are my favorites:

Desperate Housewives -I love the plots and also love looking at Mike the plumber

The Shield - because the characters are so wonderful complex and conflicted

Deadwood - again, wonderfully complex characters and Sheriff Bullock is pretty yummy to look at as well :)

I have all the seasons of Friends on DVD and love to do marathons of those too - even if I have practically memorized every line :)

  4. I never watched X-Files. I know, that's bad. But I've never been a Sci-Fi girl.

Many moons ago, I never missed Remington Steele and Moonlighting. Hello, gorgeous accent and hot bad boy all in one night. Yeehaw!

More recently I love Gilmore Girls. Luke was such a hottie. Watched the first couple seasons of Grey's Anatomy, but when they put Izzy and George together, I couldn't hang.

I don't watch any shows regularly now. I think I have enough drama in my life that I don't have the energy to watch in on TV too. LOL!

  5. Cool Faye - I haven't heard of Supernatural - I am so not a good tv person anymore and haven't been in years. I was hoping people would throw out some good series so that way i could go rent entire seasons on dvd and watch them. :)

    Thanks for the recommend!

  6. Hi Leslie! - I haven't watched Lost either although it's on my rental marathon list. A lot of people I know love it.

And yes, 30 Rock is too funny. I love Tina Fey - she's a great comedic writer.

  7. Jenyfer - I haven't watched any of those either! But I used to watch reruns of Friends. Now, I'm always trying to catch Law & Order Special Victims Unit reruns. My latest trend. :)

  8. Terrio - I'm not a sci-fi girl either, but I always loved spooky. And a lot of the X-Files is just weird stuff not necessarily UFO. You ought to try an episode or so if you like paranormal at all.

I used to love Moonlighting too!

I hear ya on the drama, but have to admit to be an American Idol junkie. :)

  9. I loved Arrested Development. I about died laughing every time I watched that show. Currently I'm digging The Riches. Can't wait for the new season!

  10. Gemma - I've had other people tell me they really like AD. Maybe that will have to go on my list too. Thanks!

  11. Ooooh I love X-Files too! Totally loved it when they filmed one of the episodes only a couple blocks from my house! David Duchovny was on my hot list for years until he dissed Vancouver and then, well, nobody insults my town so he had to be filed into the hot but stupid file along with Tom Cruise LOL!

  12. Probably my favorite drama is: Medium. I love how normal her marriage seems, very ideal--and who doesn't love Joe? And I love the supernatural aspect and the conflict it poses in her real life and skeptics. (Plus that detective guy is completely HAWT!)

I don't watch it much though. I mostly watch DVDs...so I'm behind on the TV shows I should be watching.

I *loved* Friends and That 70s Show. I have a short attention span and I love to laugh--so really it was catered right for me. Plus Friends' writers were awesome at braiding (plotting) things that seemed to have no connection to the main theme--and at the end, whammo!, it all tangled together in a seamless manner. It was awe-inspiring. The hitchhiking story in Spain--and who put the moves on who during the Ross/Rachel videotape is my favorite. Talk about perfect braiding.

  13. LOL Wendy - he's never been short on mouth, has he? But he's still a total hottie! :)

  14. You know, its so unfair how Duchovny was beaten down about his putting Vancouver down when it's not the truth. The 400 inches of rain was a sketch on Conan O Brien show that was written for him. He has said over and over again that he loved Vancouver. He just wanted to go back to LA to be able to live with his "new wife". Can't say i blame him. Why aren't Vancouver people mad at Conan?

  15. I also loved the X-Files, but favorites of all time have to be the Joss Whedon trifecta - Buffy, Angel & Firefly.

My favorite currently on tv is Psych on USA - it's freakin' hilarious!

  16. I was not a fan of X-Files, although I did see a couple of shows.

My favorite shows right now are The Closer and Moonlight.

  17. mshellion - haven't watched Medium, but now I'm intrigued. I LOVE That 70's Show - I am so totally Red. :)

  18. anon - hmmmm, I never heard the whole vancouver story but it doesn't surprise me that someone got it all screwed up - you gotta love the media. Thanks for clearing that up.

(I still loved him though) :)

  19. shel - I have seen Psyche a couple of times and I agree it was pretty good! Never got into Buffy but my friends love it.

  20. dru - haven't seen either of those either. Will go look up Moonlight - never even heard of that one but I like the title.

  21. I loved the X-files. I also like sci-fi. If I had to pick one I would go clear back to the days of The Twilight Zone. I know they are now out of date but the themes are just as compelling.

  22. So if anyone knows a DD sort of FBI investigator

Shouldn't that be an FBI investigator type with a bass boat? *g*

My favorite X-Files hunk was the misunderstood Krycek.

I'm totally hooked on Lost and Jericho.

All my other favorite shows are off the air until fall.

  23. I love the writing on Grey's Anatomy, but I gotta agree with Terrio. Izzy and George? So wasn't workin' for me. And am I the only one who doesn't like Meredith Grey?

I am a fan of 48 Hours Mystery, Dateline, and the Law and Order series. That's about all I have time to watch right now.

  24. Funny shows, like I Love Lucy, the episode in the candy factory, and The Carol Burnet Show, the Gone With The Wind Skit with Carol as Scarlet, and the dress made from drapes, drapery rod and all!! I still think that was the funniest thing on TV, ever.

    ReplyDelete
  25. catslady - I loved The Twilight Zone too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. lol Tori - If the guy looks like DD, the bass boat is totally optional! :)

  27. Kathy - I love L&O - especially the SVU episodes!

    ReplyDelete
  28. anon - You know, I never found Carol Burnet funny at all - not sure why that is. I always wondered why her H tolerated her.

Now, I love British comedy - like Are You Being Served.

  29. Forgot to mention, I also love Bones - the dialogue is great and so is the tension between "Bones" and her partner Booth. Great crime show with all the detail of CSI but so much better!
